Isolated heavy rain may pour down in 11 states and regions including Yangon Region due to strong monsoon season, announced the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).
According to the weather forecast made by the DMH on September 10, rain or thundershowers will be isolated in lower Sagaing and Mandalay regions, northern Shan and Kayah states, scattered in upper Sagaing Region, fairly widespread in northern and eastern Shan and Chin states, widespread in the remaining regions and states with regionally heavy falls in Bago and Taninthayi regions and Rakhine State and isolated heavy falls in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Ayeyawady regions, and Kachin and Mon states. Recorded rainfalls are 7.09 inches in Thandwe, 6.58 inches in Arn, 6.38 inches in Maungdaw, 5.59 inches in Longlon, 5.47 inches in Taunggut, 4.88 inches in Zaungtu, 4.61 inches in Dawei, 4.53 inches in Mrauk-U, 4.45 inches in Thayawady, 4.06 inches in Zalun, 3.66 inches in Hmawby, 3.35 inches in Kyauktaw, 3.27 inches in Chaungsone, 3.23 inches in Myitkyina and 3.11 inches in Kyaukphyu respectively.
Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal, it said.

Degree of certainty is 100%.
Squalls with rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35-40 m.p.h. Wave height will be about 8 –12 feet off and along Myanmar coasts. Coastal areas will have more rainfall in the next two days, it said.
