Ygn Region chief minister says YBS Card can be used within 6 months

Yangon Region chief minister Phyo Min Thein said in a 2nd anniversary of establishing Yangon Bus System (YBS) on January 16 that after signing with company with the government, card system will be installed at YBS buses. 

The 2nd anniversary of establishing Yangon Bus System (YBS) was held at the SKY Star Hotel in Yangon on January 16.

A Master Agreement will be soon to be signed between Yangon payment Services Co. Ltd and Asia Starmer Transport Intelligence (ASTI). After signing, necessary machines for card system will be installed in more than 4000 buses. For the preliminary programme, card system will be used in over 2000 buses within 6 months.

Under the approval of Central bank, the card system is being implemented and it has been submitted to Myanmar Investment Cooperation (MIC). 

"Concerning this matter, Yangon Region Transport Authority (YRTA) will be successfully carried out," said Yangon Region chief minister Phyo Min Thein.

In stalling card system, buses with good structure will be given priority. The card system being used in China, Hong Kong and London will be installed.

YBS is operating with 2,600 including 1,000 which were bought by Yangon Region Government.
