It is no use that the government led by NLD is negotiating with the ethnics using other ways to have peace instead of making negotiation for national reconciliation, said Sai Pao Nup, Chairman of Wa National Party (WNP).

“It is important to have federal system for the new government for next five years. They need to have ceasefire agreement with the EAOs. It is an important issue. They need to end military operation which will be stopped for a time or long term. If they can do that, national reconciliation and peace will be implemented,” he said.

The government should discuss with the ethnic groups openly to build peace whatever happened in the past time, he added.

“Although some of the EAOs are insurgents before, the government should discuss with ethnic leaders to have solution to end armed conflicts. I assumed it will implement peace,” he said.

It is also important to have rules of law as much as the government can, he continued.

“When we said about rules of law, we cannot make it in areas where the insurgents are operated. I assumed it will be automatically affected if ceasefire agreement is made. We will have a solution if only we made negotiation warmly and frankly. We cannot bring peace if we talked about peace from afar. So we all need to sit and find the solution,” he said.
