Daw Khin Mi Mi Kywe, wife of former Yangon Region Chief Minister, testified in court today that she had arranged for gold bars and dollars to be given to the State Counsellor, according to a source close to the court.

On November 12, a special court within the Nay Pyi Taw City Council was arraigned in connection with a case filed against the State Counsellor under anti-corruption laws.

She testified to support her husband’s statement in related with the allegations that former Yangon Region Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein allegedly paid bribes to the State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, during a court hearing today, according to sources close to the court.

She said Phyo Min Thein demanded her to make gold bars from her shop to hand over them to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. He sold some of the gold bars and bought dollars. However she did not accompany him while he went to give them to the State Counsellor and she did not remember the exact dates, said a source close to the court.

In Nay Pyi Taw, an official from the Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee came to testify in connection with a case under Section 55/63 of the Anti-Corruption Law for using public fund to build a one-storey building at Layaungtaw to house Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, chairperson of Daw Khin Kyi Foundation, according to a source close to the court.

The court didn’t examine the case of Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee Mayor Dr Myo Aung and Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee member (2) Min Thu, who granted permission to use 101.33 acres of land for Layaungtaw agricultural vocation training school implemented by Daw Khin Kyi Foundation in Nay Pyi Taw and the case of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Dr Myo Aung and Ye Min Oo, who took possess of 23.855 acres of land in Pobba Thiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw, in today court hearing, and witnesses will be examined at the next court hearing, according to a source close to the court.

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, former mayor Dr Myo Aung of Nay Pyi Taw, former deputy mayor Ye Min Oo of of Nay Pyi Taw and Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee member (2) Min Thu, are scheduled to stand trial on November 19 under the Anti-Corruption Law.
