Warehouses which store 50 tonnes of rice or above must register starting from Nov 3

For the stability of rice prices and for the systematic documentation of storage of rice, all rice warehouses which store 50 tonnes or rice or above 5000 buckets must registered starting from November 3 according to the Ministry of Commerce.

The Ministry issued an order dated November 3 that all domestic warehouses must registered at Myanmar rice online (MYRO)-www.Myro.com.mm with online registration for the sufficiency of rice for local consumption, for systematically purchasing of rice, for the stability of rice prices and for the systematic documentation of storage of rice.

Under the order, all rice warehouses which store 50 tonnes or rice or above 5000 buckets must register.

At present, import of rice in current fiscal year is less than last year; purchase of rice has increased from China, EU market and Asean including G to G system, according to Myanmar Rice Federation.

“Concerning export of rice, China and EU market buy most of Myanmar’s rice. Neighboring countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines has increased buying rice from Myanmar. We’ve expected to import about 2 tonnes of rice but it is less than previous year. I think, we can export in October, November and December. From October to March is the rice exporting season. Myanmar earned more than US $ 40 from export of rice last month,” said U Ye Min Aung, Chairman of Myanmar Rice Federation.

Over 49,260 tonnes of rice were exported through maritime trade during September; more than 10,190 tonnes were exported to EU member countries according to the Ministry of Commerce.
