SITTWE- Vice-President Henry Van Thio met with ministers of Rakhine State Government Committee and departmental personals yesterday, telling them that returning the farmlands and supplying electricity was very important.

“It is the fourth time visiting the Rakhine State for me. I’m very glad to see the developments in Rakhine State. During previous visits, I met with Sittwe locals. At that time, I knew that Rakhine State needed access to the electricity supply. In Rakhine State, there are many places where hydropower generation could be applied. If the State can generate electricity through hydropower, there will be benefits for the locals. Rakhine State riches many natural resources. If the region will lack the security, it is impossible to gain the developments. Moreover, Rule of Law is very important in Rakhine State. As you know, the government is striving to achieve the rule of law. So, I would like to urge the locals to participate in the government’s efforts. Later, Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone plays a vital role in Rakhine State. Now, Multi-purpose of Kalatan Rive Project is being implemented. Upon completion, the project will bring the fruitful results for Southern Chin State and Rakhine State,” said Vice-President Henry Van Thio.
