In a heartbreaking incident, a Myanmar worker lost their life in a collision between a motorbike and a bus in Chon Buri province, Thailand. The fatal accident occurred on January 11 and has left the community in grief.

A bus, traveling from Chon Buri to Bangkok, suddenly lost control of its speed and collided head-on with a motorcycle. The Myanmar motorcyclist, caught in the impact, tragically died on the spot.

U Moe Gyoe, Chairman of the Joint Action Committee for Burmese Affairs (JACBA), shed light on the situation. He stated, “This incident was caused by a bus driving from Chon Buri to Bangkok. The bus collided head-on with a Myanmar worker who was riding the motorcycle. As a result, the life insurance coverage ranges from Baht 500,000 to 1,500,000. If strong documents are presented by human rights lawyers and the Myanmar community, they can expect precise compensation for their loss. The process is already underway.”

The Myanmar community in Chon Buri is actively seeking assistance. They have reached out to organizations such as the Human Rights and Development Foundation (HRDF) in Thailand and the Myanmar Labour Attaché Office in Thailand. Their goal is to secure the necessary funds for a dignified burial, including a burial cost of 20,000 baht and life compensation, says U Moe Gyoe.

The body of the Myanmar migrant has been entrusted to Chon Buri Hospital by the Thai Social Rescue Team. This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for swift support during such difficult times.
