Trade volume of Myawady border trade zone reaches over US$33 m in early Sept

The volume of trade conducted at Myawady border trade centre in early September had been over US$33 million. There had been an increase in import of goods, as learnt from the Ministry of Commerce.

Trade has been conducted at Myawady Trade Zone across the border to Thailand, so that from 1 Sept to 8 Sept, the export conducted amounted to US$6.488 million, and the import amount had been US$26.952 million. The total amount in volume had been US$33.440 million.

The items exported most were 2,390.800 tons of onion, 95,134 ready-made clothes, 145.410 tons of dried chili, 378.221 tons of green chili, 405.040 tons of betel nut, 14.960 tons of white sesame, 60 tons of grey sesame, 542.500 tons of cabbages, 1,248.260 tons of maize, and 230 tons of metal and raw metal.

The items imported most were raw plastic items, construction materials, air conditioners, machines and accessories, soap, iron and steel, dry batteries, printing paper, telephones and communication items, and other paper.

As Thailand has been increasing its food products extensively the requirement of raw food items has been in greater demand.

The issue of export licenses and surveying of goods were being given priority for fishery products, onions and chili, which can easily decay.
