Six Bengalis killed in fighting with AA: army

A total of six Bengali villagers from five villages are killed in a fight with Arakan Army (AA) and nine others are wounded, announced the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services on April 4.

The announcement said the army encountered with the AA members who approached Wakhotechaung Village, Buthidaung Township in Rakhine State on April 3.

The army had a tip-off about the information in which about 150 members of AA were based near Saidin Creep about 7,000 meters away from east of the village to control Wakhotechaung Village and nearby villages on the afternoon of April 3, it said.

The AA members attacked the headquarters of a battalion based near Phonenyolate Village, Buthidaung Township at night time using heavy weapons and six Bengali villagers from Thayetpyin, Daphyuchaung, Kingtaung, Htaketupauk and Phonenyolate villages were killed. Nine another Bengalis were wounded and sent to military hospital in the township, it said.

Army is providing military operations to control and provide security in the area, it said.
