Clashes continued at night in Katha, Katha District, upper Sagaing Region and schools have been closed while locals are worried over urban war may break out in Katha, according to locals.

Armed groups have warned the locals of Katha to flee from the town as November 10 the latest, according to a local.

“The armed groups attacked the police station with drones. There are many families living in the compound of the police station and they moved to the military base. The locals are worried about that. Next, armed groups have warned us to flee from the town as November 10 the latest. So, there are few people in the town.  Parents didn’t send their children to schools. As a result, schools are closed and very few shops are opened,” said a parent on the evening of November 9.

In recent days, clashes broke out nearly every night and the police station was attacked with drones and some were injured, according to sources.

“We couldn’t sleep at night as we heard gunfire like fireworks during the lighting festival. Locals are anxious about the clashes but majority of locals chose to stay here as they have nowhere to go,” said a local.

Local PDF attacked security posts in Kawlin and Pinlebu and clashes also broke out in Htigyaing, Indaw and Katha continuously, according to sources.
