Two utility poles between Pakokku and Nyaungbingyi have bent and collapsed due to the theft of power line braces.
An official from the Pakokku Electricity Supply Office stated on their social media account that the braces between the utility poles were stolen, causing the poles to bend and collapse during slightly harsh weather conditions.
The official wrote, "Two bent and broken poles have already been removed and are being reinstalled, while one leaning pole is being repaired. Electricity is expected to be restored within the next two to three days."
Due to the collapse of the utility poles, power outages have been reported in towns across Pakokku District from May 3 to May 7.
