Military columns have reportedly regained full control of Maw Luu town in Indaw Township, Kathar District, Sagaing Region, on May 5, according to an official statement.

After retaking Indaw town on April 30, military forces conducted area clearance operations in the surrounding region and advanced toward Maw Luu. During the operation, troops were divided into columns and systematically cleared and secured areas between Indaw and Maw Luu. Narma Kyaing, Pintin, and Nabar Gyi villages were recaptured on May 2; Point-305 hill and Pinwel Ywathit on May 3; and Tonelon and Pharpan villages on May 4. On May 5, the military announced it had fully regained control of Seepin village, Narkwin Kyin village, and Maw Luu town.

Security forces reportedly engaged in clashes with insurgents during the clearance operations to fully secure Maw Luu and nearby areas. According to the statement, weapons and bodies of insurgents were seized. Additionally, fuel storage facilities allegedly operated illegally by insurgents were confiscated, including fuel drums, plastic containers, storage tanks, and vehicles.

Military units are continuing necessary security and territorial control measures in the area, with efforts underway to swiftly reopen and secure the Maw Luu–Nansi Aung road section.

Maw Luu is a town in Indaw Township, Kathar District, located about 20 miles north of Indaw. It lies along the Shwebo–Myitkyina road, a key inter-state route connecting Sagaing Region and Kachin State, making it strategically important for transportation and trade.
