The People’s Party has so far won six seats in state and regional parliaments following the completion of Phases One and Two of the general election, according to party Central Committee member U Ye Kyaw Swar.
Speaking to The Daily Eleven, U Ye Kyaw Swar said the party has secured one PR seat in the Mon State Hluttaw, three PR seats in the Magway Region Hluttaw, one PR seat in the Yangon Region Hluttaw, and one FPTP seat in the Tanintharyi Region Hluttaw.
He added that in Kyimyindaing Township, which voted during Phase Two on January 11, the People’s Party candidate for the Amyotha Hluttaw is currently leading in vote counts. However, the final result cannot be confirmed until Phase Three is completed, as Amyotha Hluttaw results—both PR and FPTP—will only be finalized after the final phase.
U Ye Kyaw Swar also noted that results for remaining regions and states where elections have not yet concluded, including Kachin, Kayin, Mandalay, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Shan, and Tanintharyi, will only be known after Phase Three. This includes outcomes for regional and state parliaments, the Amyotha Hluttaw, and ethnic affairs representatives.
The People’s Party is contesting the 2025–2026 general election with 501 candidates nationwide. According to the Union Election Commission (UEC), the election is being held in three phases: Phase One on December 28, 2025, in 102 townships; Phase Two on January 11, 2026, in 100 townships; and Phase Three on January 25, 2026, in the remaining 63 townships, covering a total of 265 townships nationwide.
