A fire broke out in Mandalay’s Pyigyidagun Township on February 7 at around 2:00 pm due to an overheated charging fan, according to reports.
The incident occurred in a one-story house measuring 15 feet by 15 feet, with a zinc roof, wooden flooring, and partition walls, located between 114th and 115th Streets on Yanman Lane in the Yebaw Saikkwin area. The fire started when heat from the charging fan spread to a nearby partition wall, igniting the blaze, as confirmed by the Myanmar Fire Services Department.
The fire destroyed the 15x15-foot house, its contents, and part of a two-story RC (reinforced concrete) building measuring 35 feet by 10 feet. Six aluminum doors on the upper floor of the RC building and its interior belongings were also damaged.
Firefighters from the regional fire department responded with three administrative vehicles, while Pyigyidagun Township Fire Station deployed three fire trucks. Additional fire trucks were dispatched from Chanmyathazi, Takhun Taing, (Gha) reserve, and Thinbannkone stations, along with two water tankers from Lawka Parla station. A total of 25 fire fighters and 50 auxiliary firefighters worked to contain the blaze. The fire was brought under control by 2:11 pm and fully extinguished by 2:15 pm.
Authorities have taken legal action against a male suspect in connection with the incident under case number (Pa-31/285/2025) at the Pyigyidagun Township police station.
