Myanmar reports 647 confirmed cases on Jan 5

Myanmar found 647 new COVID-19 confirmed patients on January 5 bringing the total number of patients to 127,582 and 22 more people died, announced the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS) on the night of January 5.

A total of 19,770 samples are tested between 8 pm of January 4  and 8 pm of January 5 and found 647 confirmed patients, it said.

A total of 605 people are allowed to be discharged from the hospital bringing the total number of people to 110,805. 18 out of 22 patients died on January 5 are the patients with underlying chronic medical conditions. Up to 2,766 patients have died from the virus, it said.

It said 1,904,389 samples were tested till January 5 and found 127,582 patients so far.

A total of 320 people, who had close contact with positive patients in Yangon Region and tested negative, are put in home quarantine, it said.
