Myanmar reports 276 new patients and 2 deaths on Dec 29

Myanmar found 276 new COVID-19 confirmed cases on December 29 bringing total number of patients to 530,276, according to an announcement from Ministry of Health (MOH).

A total of 13,051 samples are tested between 8 pm of December 28 and 8 pm of December 29 and found 276 patients. Two more people died from the virus bringing total number of death tolls to 19,262, according to a report from the MOH.

A total of 6,018,475 samples are tested till December 29 and 220 people are allowed to be discharged from the hospital bringing total number to 507,806, it said.

The samples were tested in labs under the MOH, using GeneXpert machines in hospitals in Nay Pyi Taw Council, all regions and states, at No.1 1,000-Bed Military Hospital in Yangon, at No.2 1,000-Bed Military Hospital in Nay Pyi Taw, at No.9 100-Bed Military Hospital in Lashio, at private hospitals and labs and using COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Diagnostic Test in hospitals and public health departments in Nay Pyi Taw Council, all regions and states.

As of December 28, more than 35 million doses of COVID-19 have been vaccinated in Myanmar, according to the MOH.

As of December 28, more than 15 million people in Myanmar have received two doses of the vaccine and more than 5 million people received one dose, totaling over 20 million people.

Currently, people over the age of 40 are being vaccinated against COVID-19 and can be vaccinated at nearby health centers, according to the MOH.

Vaccines had been provided to those over the age of 65 previously and now providing to those aged 40 and over from November 9.
