Regional MP Kyaw Zeya representing Dagon Township Constituency-2 will appear in court as defendant witness in the case against three journalists from the Weekly Eleven Journal, who have been sued by Yangon region government under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code, according to the news coverage by Yangon Khit Thit Media on October 10.

He went on saying that he had read the whole article that appeared in the Weekly Eleven Journal. No mistake was found in the article. The article described parliamentarians’ discussions only at the parliament. I would vindicate them.

“The article is correct. It quoted (MPs) Kyi Pyar, Daw Sandar Min and U Kyaw Zeya. The court needs to check whether these words are right or wrong. The court can summon us. The record will emerge. I can make a photo copy of the record. I will ask parliament to do so. I will appear in court as defendant witness if asked. I discussed the school bus problem in parliament and told the media about it. The article doesn’t include the facts that may defame the government. It just puts finger on the undertakings. We (MPs) discussed it based on the regional auditor-general’s report,” he told the Yangon Khit Thit Media.
