More than 8,000 IDPs from Laukkai and Chinshwehaw arrive in Tangyan through Wa Region

More than 8,000 IDPs from Laukkai and Chinshwehaw in Wa Region were transported by UWSP/UWSA at Barkawaik Bridge from Tangyan and some were heading back to their native places, according to sources.

“More than 8,000 IDPs from Laukkai and Chinshwehaw are here. Wa group sent them with 12-wheeled trucks. Some are staying at temporary shelters till now and some are leaving to their native places,” said a local from Tangyan.

The IDPs are temporarily staying at Wa literature and culture hall, Aung Mingalar Monastery, and indoor stadium. Regional authorities and locals are providing them with food.

Since October 27, clashes occurred in northern Shan State in Laukkai, Kunlong, Hsenwi, Lashio, Kutkai, Namkham including Chinshwehaw in Kokant self-administrative region between military and combined forces of MNDAA, TNLA, AA, BPLA, PDF (Mandalay). Tens of thousands of people are stranded along Chinese border and over 60,000 people are fleeing from the area due to clashes.
