More flights between Myanmar and China plan to run

More than 10 flights are running between Myanmar and China daily at present and new flight schedules will be arranged to fly between Yangon and destinations in China, according to Myanmar-China tourism development meeting.

The meeting was organized by Ministry of Hotel and Tourism, intended to promote the tourism sector after Myanmar granted free visa to travellers from Japan and South Korea and visa on arrival to Chinese tourists, which started on October 1.

Representatives from tourism organizations from China, Myanmar trade organizations, Chinese airlines, local tourism agencies, Chinese media, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), Yangon Aerodrome Company Limited (YACL), ITA and duty free shops from Yangon International Airport (YIA) attended the meeting.

Ohn Maung, Union Minister for Hotel and Tourism said, “We have to make ready  infrastructure buildings, hotels, restaurants and other businesses related with tourism industry for Chinese tourists. It is important to understand more about Myanmar in their visit.”

The YACL, in-charge of operating the services of the YIA, is cooperating with Pioneer Aerodrome Services Company Limited, which is managing the services of the Nay Pyi Taw International Airport, to make a contact to Chinese airlines and to run new flight schedules between Myanmar and China by cooperating with the ITA.

The YACL is cooperating with a state owned airline, Myanmar National Airlines, to run between Yangon and big towns in China.

A Chinese low budget airline, 9 Air, introduced its services to fly a direct flight between Guangzhou and Yangon on October 28.

It will be the second direct flight after the airline flied a direct flight between Guangzhou and Mandalay on October 2. It is intended to provide services for businessmen and other passengers travelling between Yangon, the commercial capital of Myanmar and Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province.
