Moderate quake hits near Homalin

A moderate quake hit nearby Homalin on June 4, 2019, sources said.

The moderate earthquake of magnitude 5.2 Richter Scale with its epicenter inside Myanmar (about 11 miles northwest of Homalin), latitude 25.03°N, longitude 94.83°E, depth 59 kilometers, about 65 miles northeast of Tamu seismological observatory was recorded on June 4, 2019, announced the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

“We didn’t know about the tremor,” said a local from Homalin.

The moderate quakes frequently hit centering northwest areas of Myanmar such as Chin Mountains, Kalay, Tamu, Mawleik, Phaungpyin and Homalin in Sagaing Region.

The DMH announced that a slight earthquake of magnitude 4.1 Richter Scale with its epicenter inside Myanmar (about 13 miles northwest of Kale), latitude 23.26°N, longitude 93.87°E, depth 35 kilometers, about 46 miles north-northeast of Hakha seismological observatory was recorded on  May 30, 2019.
