The Miss Grand International Organization (MGI) announced yesterday that they have decided to revoke the title of 2nd Runner-Up from Miss Grand Myanmar 2024, Ms. Thae Su Nyein, due to inappropriate behavior and actions that violated several regulations.
The MGI Grand Final competition took place on October 25 at the MGI Hall in Bangkok, Thailand.
During a press conference in Bangkok, Miss Grand International Chairman Nawatt Itsaragrisil stated that he had accepted the decision to withdraw Thae Su Nyein’s title and to also terminate the organization’s partnership with Miss Grand Myanmar.
"She should create her own beauty pageant if she wants to win every title. If she desires the top position, then she has to work for it," he remarked.
In the competition, the first-place title was awarded to India’s contestant, the second to the Philippines, and third to Thae Su Nyein from Myanmar.
In an Instagram live video following the coronation night, Thae Su Nyein expressed her frustration, sharing that she felt robbed after not receiving two special awards and had decided to relinquish her 2nd Runner-Up crown.
She emphasized that her frustration was not with the victory of Miss Grand International 2024 Rachel Gupta of India or first runner-up CJ Opiaza of the Philippines. "I don't blame them," she clarified.
MGI has therefore lost its 2nd Runner-Up.
The National Costume award went to Brazil, Ecuador, and Honduras, while the Country's Power of the Year award went to Thailand.
"We didn’t receive what we deserved, so I’m returning my 3rd-place title," Thae stated. "It’s not like a beauty queen crown; it’s an award similar to National Costume and Country's Power of the Year."
