The First Conference and Fourth Central Committee Meeting of the People’s Party (PP) commenced at 9:00 am on 12 September at Sky Star Hotel in Yangon.
Following the opening agenda and party pledges, attendees elected three conference chairpersons and viewed a documentary chronicling the party's journey alongside a video message from Central Patron U Ko Ko Gyi.
In his message, U Ko Ko Gyi noted that the country is undergoing an exceptional period rather than standard democracy, urging members to build internal trust and solidarity. He stressed that effective party organization requires actively listening to public grievances and delivering practical service rather than merely soliciting memberships. He called for collective efforts to advance peace processes, reunite separated families, and heal societal trauma.
Central Chairman U Pe Thet delivered the opening remarks, after which Central Steering Committee Member U Kyaw Lin briefed attendees on party policies and regulations.
The conference is scheduled to dissolve the current Central Committee and elect new Central Committee and Central Executive Committee members.
