A Light Truck driver has been charged under Section 505 (a) of the Penal Code after filing a fabricated armed robbery report in Mudon Township, Mon State.
On 11 September, U Si Thu from Kamawet reported to the Mudon Myoma Police Station that unidentified gunmen had held up his vehicle and two passenger cars near Tarpathon village, allegedly looting K9 million and mobile phones.
A subsequent police investigation revealed the claim was entirely false.
According to sources, U Si Thu, who transports local fish vendors daily, had misplaced K6.5 million entrusted to him for delivery, along with a mobile phone. Fearing his wife's reprimand, he stopped near Joker Bridge on the Mudon–Kamawet road and persuaded his passengers to corroborate a fake armed hold-up story in the neighbourhood.
Authorities have initiated legal proceedings against him for staging the hoax and filing a false report.
