People affected by flooding in Laymyintna Township in Ayeyawady Region, as well as rescue and relief workers operating in the area, have been urged to remain vigilant against the danger posed by snakes, according to local aid organizations.

“Residential wards, villages, and farmlands have all been inundated, causing venomous snakes to emerge and move into populated areas. Both flood victims and rescue personnel need to be extremely cautious. Last night, our team went to assist relief groups staying overnight along the main road near Laymyethna by providing generator-powered lighting to help ensure their safety,” a representative of the Hinthada District Social Assistance Network said.

“We have already begun organizing a mobile medical team to provide healthcare services in the affected areas if needed. Anti-venom medication has been prepared and is readily available. Other emergency medicines and supplies have also been made ready. In coordination with the district network and social assistance organizations, arrangements have been made to transport patients to station hospitals when necessary,” said Dr. Phyo Wai Win, Director of Hinthada General Hospital.

Flooding continues to affect Laymyintna Township following the collapse of an embankment, and rescue and relief operations are still ongoing, according to reports.
