Medical specialist team of 28 people from Mandalay Region reinforced Phaunggyi COVID-19 center beginning October 12.

In Phaunggyi COVID-19 center, there are 1125 patients on October 11 evening and 78 people discharged from Phaunggyi and 36 are in the ICU.

COVID-19 tests are being carried out by Cobas 6800, Rapid antigen test kits, RT PRC, Gene Xpert machines and more than 15000 samples are tested daily according to Ministry of Health and Sports. 

Rapid diagnostic tests are the most suitable for testing people with COVID-19 symptoms such as person under investigation (PUI) as well as patients with anosmia symptoms, according to professor Htay Htay Tin, deputy director-general of National Health Laboratory Department.
