There are more than 4.5 million eligible voters in Mandalay Region for the next general election to be held this year, exceeding over 150,000 compared to the 2015 election, said Mandalay Region Election Sub-commission Chairman Shein Win.

There were over 4.4 million voters in the 2015 election but the numbers in 20200 exceed over 150,000 in 2020, he said.

"In September (last year), voter list compilation was almost completed. According to the list, we have over 4.5 million voters. Under the project, we make lists monthly. For example, there are deaths, the number will decrease. The number will increase if people move house. Till now, there are 4,555,310 voters. This does not include additional lists. We have given a sample list to the military command concerned. When the UEC (Union Election Commission) asks us to collect lists of military personnel, we will get them. We have had lists of those aged 18 and above," said Shein Win.

The voters lists were made based on voters who will turn 18 on December 30, 2020. If the election comes earlier, the number of voters will decrease.

"The voter lists will be announced two times for any changes or amendments," Shein Win said.

In the previous 2015 general election in Mandalay Region, over 3.2 million of more than 4.4 million voters cast their votes accounting for 72.86 percent.
