MAI and Air KBZ extend the suspension of some of their domestic flights

Myanmar Airways International (MAI) and Air KBZ extended the suspension of their domestic flights to Lashio, Techilek, Kalay, Kengtong, Dawei, Kawthoung and Myeik till the end of July due to the increasing number of COVID-19 patients, sources said.

Both airlines temporarily suspended their domestic flights to Lashio, Techilek, Kalay, Kengtong, Dawei, Kawthoung and Myeik since May.

The MAI announced the airline will carry emergency medical equipment such as oxygen concentrators and medical supplies in international flights to Kuala Lumpur, Seoul-Incheon, Bangkok and Guangzhou and domestic flights consolidated with the Air KBZ without charges depending on free spaces and approval of the authorities. However the donors will be charged taxes such as customs charges and warehouse charges. They can contact to cargo operations team for the free items.

The MAI suspended its flights to Singapore and Kolkata till July 30 and is planning to fly relief flights to Kuala Lumpur, Seoul and Bangkok.

Temporary travel restrictions to stop COVID-19 are extended and according to instruction from the Directorate of Civil Aviation, the airline changed its flight schedules to July 31.

Passengers who have purchased tickets for the extended suspension period will be allowed to transfer free of charge depending on the availability of seats. The deadline for rebooking and refund is on September 30.

Non-refundable tickets will be refunded by travel vouchers, which valid til November 31, 2021 and they cannot be transferred to others.

Ministry of Transportation and Communications extended the ban on the operation of international flights at Yangon International Airport till July 31.
