The government proposed to hold the Leaders’ Summit representing the government, Tatmadaw (defence services), the parliament and ethnic NCA signatories on October 15.

“The government proposed the leaders’ summit on October 15. That day is the annual of the NCA. The responsible persons are to meet and discuss on that day,” said Ye Baw Myo Win, Vice-Chairman of the ABSDF.

We are to hold the summit as it becomes politically essential. It is not easy to say exactly whether we will meet next or not, said Ye Baw Myo Win.

We may face discussions according to political requirement. The proposed schedule of the government will have to be submitted to the Peace Process Steering Team (PPST). We will have to negotiate the matters relating to the successful holding of the summit and the list of those attending the summit, said Ye Baw Myo Win.

The preliminary coordination meeting of holding the leaders’ summit between the government, the Tatmadaw, the parliament and the ethnic NCA signatories was held at the NRPC in Yangon on October 1 and 2.

It was attended by Dr Myo Win, Chairman of Peace Commission, Tun Tun Oo, Union Attorney-General, Lt-Gen Khin Zaw Oo (Retired), Secretary of Peace Commission, Maj-Gen Soe Naing Oo, Brig-Gen Sein Tun Hla, Aung Soe, Member of Peace Commission, Zaw Htay, Director-General of the Ministry of State Counsellor Office, Phado Saw Kywe Htoo Win, Vice-Chairman of the KNU, Dr Salai Hlyan  Hmone Sar Khaung, Phado Saw Tar Do Hmu, General Secretary of the KNU, Saw Mya Yazar Lin, CEC Member of the ALP, Ye Baw Myo Win, Vice-Chairman of the ABSDF, Salai Htalar Hey, CEC Member of the CNF and Aung Naing Ma Ngae, CEC Member of the NMSP.
