Flooding occurs in eastern Dagon Township

There have been floods in some wards of eastern Dagon Township, Yangon Region, affecting thousands of people, local residents have reported.

Heavy rains started in some wards of eastern Dagon Township last week and it caused the flooding.

“We faced the flooding about one week. Now, it is the worst. The last flooding was in 2004 but now it is the worst. In some wards, the water is as deep as a human waist and water flows into the houses. At night, we sleep at the monastery and then we return back to our home in daytime. In some low-lying wards it is as deep as the chest,” said one of the locals from Ward No.138 in eastern Dagon Township.

“Some houses can’t cook the meals. So, they depend on the donors. Flooding occurred in eastern Dagon Township about one week. But, water level didn’t decrease. Ward No.138 in eastern Dagon Township is now experiencing the worst floods,” said a local resident from ward No.138.
