Five houses were destroyed in a fire that broke out in Toe Chay 2 Ward, Kyan Tan Ward, Amarapura Township, Mandalay Region, this morning, according to the Myanmar Fire Services Department.
Upon receiving the report, two administrative vehicles, 10 fire engines, and five water tankers, along with 30 regular firefighters and 70 auxiliary firefighters, were dispatched to the scene. The fire was brought under control at 9:28 a.m. and completely extinguished by 9:33 a.m.
Investigations revealed that the fire started in a tailor shop located in the middle of the ground floor of a 38-foot by 15-foot, corrugated-iron-roofed, wooden two-storey house. The flames spread to nearby buildings, damaging part of a 15-foot by 15-foot two-storey house, a 15-foot by 35-foot two-storey house, a 20-foot by 20-foot two-storey house, and a 27-foot by 28-foot two-storey house — a total of five houses lost.
A 35-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the incident by Amarapura Myoma Police Station.
