Preparations are reportedly underway to reopen the Myanmar–Thailand Myawady–Mae Sot No. 2 Friendship Bridge in the coming days, according to a report by Thai PBS News.
The bridge, a key trade route along the East–West Economic Corridor, was temporarily closed to cargo traffic on August 18, 2025.
Although there have been reports that the No. 2 Friendship Bridge will soon reopen for cross-border trade, no official announcement has yet been made, a border trader said.
Following the suspension of cargo transport across the bridge, formal border trade also came to a halt. The reopening of the No. 2 Friendship Bridge is expected to significantly boost trade flows and economic activity in the border region.
