The nighttime closure hours for the Thanlwin Bridge (Chaungzon), which connects Mawlamyine and Chaungzon Township in Mon State, have been extended starting today, August 13, according to local residents.

Previously, the bridge was closed to traffic from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day. From today onwards, the closure period will run from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., a local source said.

“In Chaungzon Township, the streets are already quiet by around 7 p.m., except during festival days. With the extended closure hours, those who work in Mawlamyine at night and return home later, as well as traders transporting fresh goods to Mawlamyine early in the morning, may face some difficulties,” the resident added.

Similarly, since July 16, the Thanlwin Bridge (Mawlamyine), which links Mawlamyine and Mottama in Paung Township along the Yangon–Kyaikto–Thaton–Mawlamyine–Ye–Dawei–Myeik–Kawthoung Union Highway; the Zarthapyin Bridge, connecting Kyaikmayaw Township in Mon State and Hpa-an Township in Kayin State along the Hpa-an–Mawlamyine road; and the Attaran Bridge, linking Kywechan Kone Ward and Industrial Zone Ward in Mawlamyine, have also been closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily.
