Driver killed when oil tanker overturns and catches fire in Bago

An oil bowser truck overturned and caught fire after swerving to avoid a motorcycle on the old Yangon-Mandalay Highway, killing the driver and injuring his assistant on August 27. 

The accident happened on the highway between mile post Nos. 76/4 and 76/5 in Pyuntasa, Nyaunglaybin Township, Bago Region, at about 11.30 am. The bowser truck plunged down the roadside, overturned and caught fire after swerving to avoid the motorcycle coming opposite. 

Firefighters from several township fire stations rushed to the scene and the fire was completely extinguished at 1 pm.   

The bowser truck driver was killed by the fire and another man who accompanied him was injured. The injured man was sent to Pyuntasa People’s Hospital, according to Myanmar Fire Services Department.
