A COVID-19 directive with six highlight points has been issued for the Yangon Region including warning against rumour-mongering, according to Moe Hein, Director of Yangon Region Government.

The directive has been distributed to township level departments, chairs of townships municipal committees, and administrators since March 26. The contents of the directive are to be announced to the public.

It is stated that those coming back from foreign countries have to report to the health department and undergo health inspections. If one is found to be suspicious of COVID-19 symptoms, they have to undergo quarantine for 14 days.

To avoid COVID-19, people have to follow the announcement issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports. If there is suspected COVID-19 case in neighboring areas, the report must be made as quickly as possible to respective departments and to avoid public panic and spreading of rumors.

If there are violations of rules, action will be taken in accordance with existing law and natural disaster management law and can be punished to six months in prison or fine
