Pieces of a Chinese spacecraft have fallen into the sea off Thandwe Township in Rakhine coastal region causing no damage or harm to local fishing vessels or marine workers, according to the Rakhine State Fisheries Department.

Local witnesses said the debris of the spacecraft fell into the Myanmar’s seas off Rakhine coast near Myapyin Village in Thandwe Township at over 10 pm on December 27. There were no casualties or damage as a prior warning had been issued.

“Local people saw the debris fall into the sea near Myapyin Village in Thandwe after 10 pm. No fishing vessel or fisherman was hurt because we issued a warning beforehand,” said Naing Win Thein, deputy head of the Fisheries Department.

The Civil Aviation Department also issued a statement on December 25 warning that pieces of the spacecraft were likely to fall into the sea between 10.8 pm and 10.34 pm on December 27. Then, the fisheries department also issued a warning that all boats and vessels were not to pass through the area.

“Yesterday (December 27), we heard a very loud noise at about 10.30 pm. Our homes felt shakes. I saw the burning debris of the spacecraft fall into the sea,” said a local witness.
