Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, has urged each relevant side to resolve the conflicts in northern Myanmar through peaceful means by making ceasefire as soon as possible.

The calls were made during a regular press conference held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China on November 14, expressing an opinion on the ongoing conflicts in northern Shan State.

Mao Ning said China was deeply concerned about the situation of the conflict in northern Myanmar and called for solving the disagreements in a peaceful manner through a ceasefire and negotiations on various relevant sides. Myanmar also should take practical and effective measures to guarantee security and stability in the Chinese-Myanmar border area, she added.

On October 27 in northern Shan State, MNDAA, TNLA and AA launched coordinated attacks on Chinshwehaw, Laukkai, Kunlong, Hsenwi, Lashio, Kutkai and Hamkham in the Kokang Self-Administered Zone. Since then, there have been small and large battles across northern Shan State.

Therefore, China has frequently called for a bilateral ceasefire.
