YANGON- As the Cyclone ”TITLI” that had formed in the Bay of Bengal may intensify into severe Cyclone storm in coming two days, Central Myanmar and other hilly regions may experience more rainfalls, according to the Director-General of Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

Due to torrential rain, hilly regions may suffer landslides and torrential waters from the mountains. As such, they need to be warned of the possibilities of such natural dangers brought on by heavy rain.

According to the observation made by the DMH yesterday, severe Cyclonic storm ”TITLI” over the West central Bay of Bengal is centered at about (170) miles south-southeast of Gopalpur and about (150) miles southeast of Kalingapatinam (India). But the storm will not move into Myanmar and it was ranged as a Yellow State in terms of danger levels.

“The current storm is classified as a Yellow stage. It will not move into Myanmar. The maximum wind speed is 60 miles per hour. The severe cyclonic storm continued to move to north-northwest within 12 hours. It may change to very severe cyclonic storm next 12 hours,” said Dr Kyaw Moe Oo, Director General of DMH.

Rain or thundershowers will be scattered to widespread in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay and Magway regions and the hilly regions: Shan and Chin States as well as Rakhine coastal region heavy falls due to severe Cyclone ”TITLI”.
