The new COVID-19 confirmed patient case-231 is a 30-year-old healthcare staff from Monepaw station hospital in Muse Township, Shan State and she was found infected with the virus while healthcare staff had been taking swab test samples for the virus at Muse general hospital on May 29.

According to an announcement from the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS) on June 2, the patient had no travel history and was not kept in quarantine as she had no contact history with the COVID-19 confirmed patients.

She came to Muse hospital for monthly meetings and on paydays.

She and her husband were sent to Muse hospital for further treatment.

People need to follow the instructions released by the MOHS, said Dr Tin Maung Nyunt, State Health Director of northern Shan State.

“The Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment on COVID-19 of Muse district will continue to do social distancing. The state healthcare department is tracing for people who had contacted her. We are giving treatment to the patient. The authorities instructed people to wear masks and to practice social distancing except for the restrictions eased by the Department of Public Health so people need to follow them,” he said.

People from Muse must not be negligent while the authorities are easing instructions for social distancing in Shan State. Locals need to wear masks going outside and to keep distance from other people, said Thaung Tun, Chair of Gayuna social welfare association in Muse.
