Border trade declines by more than six million USD in three months

From October 1 to December 28 of 2018-2019 fiscal year, the border trade volume reached USD 2135.078 million, down USD 6.04 million compared with the same period last year, according to the figures from the Ministry of Commerce.

The trade volume at Muse Border trade camp hit USD 928.333 million, down USD 562.395 million compared with the same period last year.

There are 17 border trade camps in Myanmar, namely Muse, Lwelgel, Chinshwehaw, Kanpiketi, Kengtung, Tachilek, Myawady, Kawthoung, Myeik, Nabule/Htikhee, Mawtaung, Maesal, Sittwe, Maungdaw, Tamu, Reed and Htantalan.

At the 24th Annual Meeting of Myanmar Bean, Pulses and Sesame Merchants Association on December 29, Dr. Than Myint, Union Minister for Commerce said, the country needed to promote the quality and quantity of export items and import capital goods which would help support the long-term economic development.
