Borneo Bulletin/ANN - Royal Brunei Airlines (RB), the country’s flag carrier, has been placed fifth in the World’s Most Improved Airline for 2019.

 

Skytrax also announced RB now ranks as the 66th world’s best airline, jumping 12 spots from the 78th spot in 2018.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) was hailed as the most improved airline in 2019. British Airways secured the second spot followed by Malaysia Airlines, Fiji Airways and RB.

The World’s Most Improved Airline award reflects an airline’s quality improvement across the entire awards programme which analyses an airline’s change in the global rating and performance improvements in different award categories.

Skytrax surveyed over 20 million travellers among over 100 nationalities and 335 airlines for its passenger satisfaction survey in the world.

This year’s World Airline Awards was held at the Paris Airshow in the Musée de l’Air et de l’ Espace, Paris Le Bourget Airport, France on Tuesday.

Qatar Airways was hailed the best airline in the world followed by last year’s number one Singapore Airlines. All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Emirates, EVA Air, Hainan Airlines, Qantas Airways, Lufthansa, and Thai Airways also made it to the top 10.

Skytrax said the ranking on the best airlines was based on votes from airline customers around the world.

Last year, RB was recognised as a winner in the 2018 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards for Travellers’ Choice Economy Class - Asia and Travellers’ Choice Regional Airlines - Asia.

TripAdvisor announced the winners of its annual Travellers’ Choice awards for airlines.

The travel planning and booking site highlighted the world’s top carriers are determined based on the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for airlines worldwide gathered over a 12-month period.

The reviews rate carriers on factors such as customer service, cleanliness, check-in and boarding, legroom, seat comfort, value for money, in-flight entertainment, and food and beverage.
