A youth in Thanbyuzayat was charged under counter terrorism law for social media posts supporting PDF, according to sources.

A 20 years old Maung Aung Khant Moe aka Wantswe from Chanmyawady ward in Monywa Township, Sagaing Region was charged under counter terrorism law on January 7, according to sources close to security forces.

“He shared posts supporting PDF attacking police stations, military bases, universities and schools on social media. That’s why he was charged under counter terrorism law,” said a man close to the security forces.

Thanbyuzayat Police Station charged Maung Aung Khant Moe aka Wantswe under Section 52 (a). Similarly, U Aung Ko Ko, deputy staff officer from Township general administrative department, U Zin Lay Nwe aka Chein Duwan and U Win Htaik were also charged under counter terrorism law for supporting PDF with cash, food and medicine on December 18, 2023.
