A plane from MNA shot at Loikaw airport injuring a passenger

A Yangon-Loikaw passenger plane from the Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) was shot at Loikaw airport today (September 30) and one passenger was injured, said State Administration Council spokesperson Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun.

Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun was asked by The Daily Eleven newspaper about the incident in which a Yangon-Loikaw passenger plane was shot and he replied “The plane was carrying 63 passengers. It was about to land at Loikaw Airport at 9:35 am. It was shot from below near the village on the north side of the runway ".

Major General Zaw Min Tun said that the Yangon-Loikaw passenger plane was shot in the morning, and one of the passengers was hit when the bullet pierced the belly of the plane.

Major General Zaw Min Tun said, “It looks like it was fired with a small weapon. One shot hit the plane. It penetrated and hit a passenger. One passenger suffered a non-critical injury near the right ear. The plane landed successfully. After that, we sent this passenger to Loikaw Hospital and he is receiving medical treatment. There is nothing to worry about.”

Major General Zaw Min Tun said that the security forces are currently conducting security operations around the place where the Yangon-Loikaw passenger plane was shot.
