A low pressure area may form over Bay of Bengal in final week of Dec: DMH

A low pressure area may form over the Andaman sea and Bay of Bengal. Weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman sea and South Bay of Bengal and generally fair elsewhere over Bay of Bengal, announced the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

Rain or thundershowers will be likely below normal in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, and Kayah states and about normal in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, and Mon states. Rainy days are expected about 1 to 2 days in Taninthayi Region and Kachin, Eastern Shan, Kayin, and Mon states and partly cloudy in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady regions and Northern and Southern Shan, Chin, Rakhine, and Kayah states, it said.

Night temperature will be 1.5°C above normal of December in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, and Mon states and about normal of December in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, and Kayah states, it said. 

Foggy days will be expected about 7 to 9 days in Upper Sagaing, and Taninthayi regions, Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, and Mon states and about 3 to 5 days in Nay Pyi Taw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, and Ayeyawady regions and Kayin State, it said.

The water levels of Ayeyarwady River are forecast to fall below the present water levels by from about 0.5 to 1 foot at Myitkyina, Bhamo, Shwegu, Katha, Thabeikkyin, Mandalay, Sagaing, Myinmu, Pakokku, Nyaung Oo, Chauk, Minbu, Magway, Aunglan, Pyay, Seiktha, Hinthada and Zalun. The water levels of Chindwin River are forecast to fall below the present water levels by about 0.5 to 1 foot at Hkamti, Homalin, Phaungpyin, Mawlaik, Kalewa, Minkin, Kani and Monywa.
