Myanmar citizens stranded abroad during the Covid-19 outbreak are being taken back through relief flights and 9,336 returned home till August 3.

Under the directive of the Covid-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment National Central Committee, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is cooperating with relevant ministries and Myanmar embassies in foreign countries in taking back Myanmar citizens abroad facing difficulties.

A total of 141 Myanmar citizens including seamen who were in Australia facing difficulties due to the suspended international flights during the pandemic arrived back by relief flight of Myanmar International Airlines at Yangon International Airport at 7.30 am on August 3.

Till August 3 since the Covid-19 outbreak, 9,336 Myanmar citizens were taken back through relief flights from Japan, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Bangladesh, Singapore, the United States, Britain, Indonesia, Malaysia, UAE, Quarter, Italy, Vietnam and the Philippines.

The suspension of international flights at Yangon International Airport have also been extended till August 31.
