On January 19, Malaysia’s immigration police conducted a crackdown at the Baiduri apartment in Bandar Tasik Kesuma, following concerns raised by locals about illegal immigrants staying in the area.

Among the 752 people staying in the building, 651 from Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Cambodia, Sierra Leon, and Cameroon were found to be illegally staying in the building.

Officials reported that some people tried to flee from the raid, and some rooms were opened by force as they denied opening.

The majority of the people in the area were immigrants, causing inconvenience and lack of security among the locals and owners. Those arrested were undocumented and will be taken action under Malaysia Immigration Act 1959/63
