Twenty nine films have been selected for scrutiny for the second time for 2019 Academy Award.

In the first stage, 97 films shown across Myanmar in 2019 were watched. In the second stage, the 29 selected movies will be watched and scrutinized thoroughly and repeatedly for categorizing different genres.

"The Academy Award Selection Committee has scrutinized 97 movies in the first stage. Now, 29 have been chosen for detailed scrutiny in the second stage. We will finalize our scrutiny by February. This year, grading system has changed. The selection committee is also formed with both veteran and young artistes," said Aye Kyu Lay, vice chairman of Myanmar Motion Picture Association.

Academy Award ceremony is set to be held in March and preparations are now underway. The coming ceremony will be held on a grand scale as this year is the 100th anniversary of Myanmar movie industry.
