Myanmar reach final in Singapore

Myanmar Under-23 footballers have beaten Vietnam 2-1 in the semi-final of the 2015 Singapore Southeast Asian Games at a 55,000-seater stadium in the city state, to progress to the June 15 final.

It is Myanmar’s first men’s final since the 2007 games and resulted in celebrations across the nation. They will face either Thailand or Indonesia on Monday.

Thailand wins AFF Women’s Championship

Myanmar’s women’s team lost 3-2 to Thailand’s team in the final match of 2015 Asean Football Federation Women’s Championship held on May 10. The Australian U-20 women’s team placed third, beating host Vietnam 4-3.

Although the Myanmar team fielded the same squad that beat the Australian U-20 team in its semi-final match, they were not strong enough to beat Thailand. Thailand scored at minutes 36, 65 and 71, while Myanmar scored at minutes 55 and 74.

Myanmar’s women reach football final

Myanmar’s women beat Australia’s under-20 team 1-0 to reach the final stage of the 2015 Asean Football Federation championship.

It is a third semi-final encounter for the teams, with Myanmar losing the previous two matches in 2008 and 2013.
