The government is constructing new staff housing projects in earthquake-affected areas of Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, and Sagaing, officials said.
Deputy Construction Minister U Myo Myint recently inspected ongoing projects in Mandalay and Sagaing regions, including staff apartments and infrastructure works. In Mandalay, authorities reported that 26 housing buildings with a total of 386 rooms are being built for government employees.
In Sagaing Region, seven new housing buildings with 112 rooms are under construction, while damaged staff housing caused by the Mandalay earthquake is also being repaired. Officials said priority is being given to construction quality, earthquake resistance, and the timely completion of roads, electricity, and water supply systems.
The inspection team also reviewed reconstruction work on the new Dokhtawady Bridge on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, which will reportedly become Myanmar’s first bridge to use earthquake-resistant ERADI-QURKE bearings.
In addition, renovation and rebuilding work at Myanma Economic Bank Branch No. 1 in Mandalay was inspected, alongside new staff housing projects in Naypyitaw for employees displaced by earthquake damage.
