The President on April 10 issued a series of orders appointing key officials, including the Chair of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, the mayors of Yangon and Mandalay, and the Chief of the Myanmar Police Force.
According to Notification No. 9/2026, the Nay Pyi Taw Council has been formed in accordance with relevant constitutional provisions and laws. U Kan Myint Than has been appointed as Chair of the Council. Other council members include Colonel Ye Moe, U Min Oo, U Khin Maung Latt, U Win Moe Khaing, U Tun Tun, and U Aung Zeya.
Under Order No. 33/2026, Council member U Win Moe Khaing has also been assigned additional duties as Vice Chair of the Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee and Deputy Mayor.
In a separate order (No. 35/2026), U Khun Nay Htun, U Moe Kyaw, and U Kyaw Kyaw Aung have been appointed as members of the Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee.
Meanwhile, under Order No. 32/2026, U Myo Myint Aung has been appointed as the Mayor of Yangon, while U Khin Maung Aye has been named Mayor of Mandalay, in line with existing legal provisions. Additionally, the President has appointed Brigadier General Soe Hlaing from the Ministry of Defence as the Chief of the Myanmar Police Force, according to Order No. 34/2026.
