The 2026 Walking Thingyan festival in Nay Pyi Taw will be held as a state-level ceremony at Nay Pyi Taw Square, according to reports.
The 2026 Walking Thingyan festival will be grandly organized at Nay Pyi Taw Square as the first state-level ceremony of the new government. This year’s celebration will go beyond a typical festive event, bringing together government officials, parliamentary representatives, civil servants, and the public to jointly celebrate with renewed spirit, new people, and a new political landscape. It is intended to be a meaningful and significant festival.
At the Walking Thingyan festival, various zones will be set up to ensure both enjoyment and cultural awareness for civil servants and the public. These will include Thingyan pavilions, entertainment zones, traditional thanaka Thingyan zones, as well as exhibition areas featuring traditional foods such as pickled tea (laphet) and htamane, all presented in an organized and grand manner.
In addition, there will be performances by well-known singers, along with many programs that highlight the essence of the traditional Ata Thingyan festival. Ministries and organizations will also participate in the Walking Thingyan celebrations.
Similarly, Walking Thingyan festivals will be held nationwide. Performances by popular singers will be included across the country, including Nay Pyi Taw, and special train tickets will be arranged to facilitate travel for artists participating in these events.
